Just A Lazy Summer Sunday Afternoon

This heat is about to get the best of me. I have seen terrible numbers on my car's thermometer in the last few days. Things like 115, and on a good day maybe only 102. After feeling that we were melting at the July 4th parade yesterday morning, last night's fireworks were very enjoyable. There was a wonderful breeze and the show was quite good as small town fireworks displays go. We had a fun and yummy cookout with the Greene family and their grandson Kevin before the show. Let me tell you, I experienced one of the best culinary delights last night. Jim and Linda asked if they could bring a dessert--and did they ever! It was an apple cheesecake with just a hint of a habanero pepper glaze. Oh my goodness!! There was just enough heat to warm your mouth, nothing serious. Mixed with the sweet apples and the cream cheese...it was my kind of treat!

Today was a wonderful Lord's Day with our KCOC family. We had several visitors this morning which is always nice and then we had a little impromptu fellowship after services tonight. Russell continues with some lessons from Daniel. Today's was excellent. Can the preacher's wife say that? I did! It was timely as we are awaiting the biopsy results in the next day or so as well as facing years of watchful waiting.

He is able. He can. But even if He does not, we will continue to serve Him.

In Daniel 3 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king:
"Oh Nebuchabnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from
it
,
and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. BUT EVEN IF HE DOES NOT, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up."

Love, sb

  1. Okay. You may think this is totally corny, but what do you expect from a person going into her 15th year of junior high school?
Several years ago I taught kindergarten. The sign on my door said, "The Briley Bunch." I made up a song and taught it to my students...they sang it each year at kindergarten graduation. The tune is to the brady bunch.
    It's a story
    About some children
Who were wanting to learn to read and write.
    They liked playdoh and fingerpainting
    and having lots of fun.
    It's a story
    About a teacher
Who was looking for a very special job
    She liked reading
    and telling stories
    and giving lots of hugs.
Then came one day when this teacher met these children
and they knew it was much more than a hunch
that this group must somehow form a family
that's the way we all became the Briley Bunch.
    The Briley Bunch
    The Briley Bunch
That's the way we became the Briley Bunch.

Okay...I told you it was corny, but the kids loved it.
